The Second Floor Gallery

Thank you to Travis for the fancy/cool name (was that it?)

Anyway, Travis and I went to go check out the alternative space/gallery/house/whatever it is. It was pretty nice. It is located on the corner of University and NE 9th street...basically right past downtown. The front door opens up to stairs, followed by four mid-sized rooms with a fair amount of wall space. There is another back door connecting to a kitchen which we can keep completely closed and locked. Best of all, there is a large front balcony, which might give our show a good atmosphere for people to hang out outside etc. I am not sure of how I feel about the space yet, but here are some pictures. What do you guys think?

First Meeting Brainstorming

Hallo folks - here's some notes I took at the first brainstorming meeting. I think we're on a good roll here so let's get rockin!

CoLab Ideas

* the artistic process - what people do to create a piece of art
(art about making art)

Improvised performance/art - live drawing/painting sessions

looping/patterning/repetition

repeating sets of music and overlaying them so that they match up in interesting ways.

*Interdisciplinary* - how does each process (art form) meld and play off each other

projecting on to people while they dance/paint/perform

creating a large scale (backdrop-ish) painting to project on to - make it interactive (i.e. - cutting it up so people or dancers could pass through it.)

The audience can active project by moving through space (Jimi Hendrix cocaine installation)
- Having sound shape the room (different sounds projecting into different spaces that can only be heard from specific spots/areas) - "cone" speakers
- Multiple projections that are delayed in different rooms or spaces.

*Multiplicity* - like the movie!

** sounds like Lorie's friend's space might be a good place to hold this shindig.
